I turned in a book manuscript in November, and my next manuscript is due in March. I like the commitment that books require, what they demand of me, and the space, the years I have to do research, interviews, visit archives, read books, consult with lawyers, work with photographers, and the puzzle, the worry, the anxiety of doing justice to the material. In this process, there is no perfection, only curiosity and the embrace of where that may lead.
