Write What You Have
A Note to Myself
I haven’t been writing the thing I am supposed to write. The draft has been sitting for months, lurking in my mind. It is like a mountain in the distance, and every day I wake up, look at it, and think it is impossible to climb. It’s strange because I’ve done the reporting, which was hard. I’m almost done, and yet I’m going nowhere. I know that I need to write what I have. And so here I am promising myself, while looking at the mountain in the distance, that I will continue to climb it.
Love,
Alice

Hi, Alice, I just want to drop a thank-you note here: thanks for writing this amazing book, Life and Death of the American Worker--I just finished reading (well, listening) it today. I'll think of ways to integrate this book in my teaching.
I read this and inmediately felt connected. I understand there's something about discipline but in my case, i feel there's kind of a frequency too. Still: gonna set a deadline for myself this time. Yet again.
