Lukas Work-in-Progress Award Shortlist
Announced by Columbia Journalism School and the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard
Today, Columbia Journalism School and the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard announced that my forthcoming book, The Life and Death of the American Worker: The Immigrants Taking on America's Largest Meatpacking Company, has been shortlisted for the Lukas Work-in-Progress Prize. The Awards recognize excellence in nonfiction that exemplifies the literary grade and commitment to serious research and social concern that characterized the work of the awards’ Pulitzer-Prize-winning namesake, J. Anthony Lukas. Former finalists include wildly talented investigative journalists like Eyal Press, Beth Macy, Rachel Louise Snyder, May Jeong, Casey Parks, Megan Kimble, Michelle Goldberg, and Pulitzer Prize winner Alex Tizon. As I enter my fourth year working on the book, I am thankful to have the support to undertake challenging investigative work.
