finding balance in the work itself

Arkansas photographer Liz Sanders carried her 4 x 5 through the water to get a portrait of young lovers sitting beside their cowboy boots.

I’ve been thinking about this conversation between two photographers that I keep in my notes:

Lynn Johnson: Have you ever been in balance?

John Stanmeyer: Never

Lynn: It’s impossible. I don’t think it is attainable, balance. Maybe the balance is the work itself.

I obsess about my creative work and find meaning in the process. Perhaps that is balance, at least for me. How do you find balance in your work?
