"24 Chickens Per Minute" on Radio Ambulante
"I practically saw death close by because I felt very alone because there was nobody to help you." - a poultry worker describing a chemical accident she survived while deboning chicken
Hi friends,
I am finishing a book manuscript, so I will keep this brief. I produced the Spanish podcast “24 Chickens Per Minute” for Radio Ambulante with Pablo Argüelles. For the podcast, I spent several months driving across Arkansas to interview poultry workers. It is rare to hear them tell their own stories because of the power of the meatpacking industry. On May 31st, I will present at the National Lawyers Guild of Arkansas on “Workers’ Rights as Human Rights: Organizing the Poultry Industry in Arkansas” alongside Magaly Licolli, the director of Venceremos.
“Do not be precious! Finish the book!” - my notes to myself
